Looking through all those.. I could be Ann Elliot too.. even though I don't really know who she is.. guess I'll have to get that one.

E, I don't think Col. Brandon was that old. He certainly wasn't any older than George Clooney. It is just that Marianne was only 17 or something. So someone who was 40 WAS old. But for us, not so much.

Heather, see if you can get the film version of 'Persuasion' with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds. V. good adaptation.

Three cheers for we Elinors, CherBear!

Aquamarine, you have found your Mr. Darcy, so all is right w/ the world, no?

Okay, but still Col. Brandon is not cute at all! I secretely wished I was not marianne, but I can see the connection. Pshah. But I too am glad I am not Fanny Price!

I thought the Alan Rickman version of Col. Brandon was attractive!

I'm with Cherbear, twice actually. I got Elinor Dashwood, and I loved Alan Rickman as C. Brandon!!

I'm with CherBear and Treat Queen, I always thought Alan Rickman was dead sexy. And Col. Brandon was such a good man and friend that I always though Marianne was an idiot for chasing after Willoughby when Col. Brandon was right there in front of her. Which I guess is why I'm an Elinor.

Random speculation/question: If, in Sense & Sensibility, Lucy Steele hadn't switched her affections from Edward to Robert Ferrars and Edward had dutifully married Lucy and if Willoughby hadn't been quite so awful nor quite so poor and ended up with Marianne (I know, a lot of 'ifs'), do you think Elinor and Col. Brandon would have eventually got through their heartache and married one another or do you think they would just be friends for life, bachelor and spinster? Random I know, but work was slow today.

I'd like to think that they would get married but I believe they would remain friends, bachelor and spinster.
